Dr. Feng Cheng is Senior Researcher at the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI), Germany, heading the IT Security Engineering (Sec-Eng) team. He is also the Representative (Lehrstuhlvertreter) of the Chair “Internet Technologies and Systems” at the Digital Engineering Faculty (DEF), University of Potsdam.

His research is mainly focused on data-driven security engineering, security analytics, network security, (multi-)cloud security, firewalls, IDS/IPS, attack modelling and penetration testing. He conducts research, development and teaching activities around new cybersecurity technologies at HPI and the University of Potsdam.

He has been the principal investigator and project manager for many research projects in the area of IT security, including the project “Physical Separation and its Lock-Keeper Implementation”, which was commercialized as a product by Siemens Switzerland (now with Atos) in 2005. He has published over 100 papers in international conferences and journals, and has served as (co-)chair, coordinator, program committee member and reviewer for many international conferences and workshops.

He holds a BEng from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (BUAA), an MEng from Beijing University of Technology (BJUT), and a PhD from the University of Potsdam.
